The Shepherd's Song – By Bob Wiegers – 12/2007

Twas a moonlit night, million stars in the sky,
Another night camped on the hill.

Another long day had faded away
And everything got suddenly still.

The sky exploded with light,
We were sure we would die.
But a strange voice said: Don't be afraid!

 (chorus1)
Good news! Great joy!  You'll find in a boy:
 The Savior, Christ the Lord!

He's in King David's town,  Go worship him now.
The One who was promised is born

I was still afraid and rather amazed.
The night sky was bright as the day

I thought I was dreaming but the angel was gleaming,
Talkin bout mangers and hay

And quick as a bolt, the one became thousands
Each bright as the sun, and singing as one:

 (chorus2)
Glory to God in the highest!  Peace to those whom He loves!
Glory to God in the highest!  Peace to those whom He loves!

I wanted to ask just what all this meant
But quick as they came they were gone

So we all decided to go down and find him
To worship Messiah the Lord

The sheep had all fled, but we didnt mind
We ran down the hill to see what we could find (singing)

 (chorus 2)

We searched the whole town but he couldnt be found in the
places a king ought to be

But then we remembered the hay and the manger
And found them, a young family.
They looked tired and scared,
Asked why we were there.
We told them our story, and glimpsed at God's glory.

 (chorus 1)

(optional verse)
So we danced in the streets telling all that we'd meet
That Jesus, the Savior was born.

Go worship Him now here in King David's town
A baby, our Savior, the Lord!

 (chorus 1, chorus 2)
